About Our Principal Consultant

As an African American woman born to a Nigerian immigrant father and Black American mother, Monica has always been drawn to culture and how it informs the lens in which we view the world.

Professionally she has taught Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for more than a decade in both the private and public sectors. Her experience has lead her to hold executive level roles both within state governement and at national organizations. Despite her vast experience, being six sigma certified, and having a Master's in Public Administration, Monica personally faced discrimination in the form of unequal pay. In 2020, this experience led her begin focusing on the systemic challenges that women face who live in urban communities. It was her work with the International Women's Empowerment Network that led her to develop a safe space for Black women with Bloom Sacredly. Having curated retreats focused on leadership development, corporate culture, and wellness for organizations, Monica recognized that these specialized retreats were needed specifically for Black women.

At Johnson Cultural Initiatives we work to lead organizations towards the path of alignment and we aim to help organizations and individuals to grow into the best versions of themselves through coaching, consulting, and retreats.
